The Battery - Ben&Mickey vs The Dead , 2012

The Battery is a 2012 American independent post-apocalyptic horror film written and directed by Jeremy Gardner, who also stars alongside Adam Cronheim. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States, where a zombie outbreak has destroyed civilization and forced the surviving population to struggle for food, shelter, and safety. The film follows two former baseball players, Ben and Mickey, as they travel through the American countryside, trying to survive in a world overrun by the undead. With contrasting personalities and different ideas about survival, the two men must face not only the constant threat of zombies but also the emotional challenges of isolation, loneliness, and the loss of their former lives.

Setting: The story takes place in New England, in the northeastern United States, primarily along the rural roads and forests of Connecticut, with part of the characters' backstory set in Massachusetts.

PLOT

The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States, where a zombie outbreak has devastated civilization. The dead have returned to life, and the surviving human population is forced to live in constant fear of being attacked. Cities and towns have become dangerous places, and finding food, shelter, and safety is a daily struggle.

Ben and Mickey, two former baseball players, travel together through the American countryside, trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. Although they share a common past, their personalities are very different. Ben is practical, resourceful, and accustomed to the harsh realities of their new world. He knows how to handle dangerous situations and appears more comfortable with their isolated existence. Mickey, on the other hand, struggles emotionally with the collapse of civilization. He misses his former life, longs for human companionship, and finds it difficult to accept that the world he once knew may never return.

The two men spend much of their time traveling through rural areas, avoiding populated places where zombies might be waiting. They sleep outdoors or in abandoned buildings, search for supplies, and try to remain unnoticed. Their journey is marked by long periods of silence, boredom, and tension, as the constant threat of death makes even ordinary activities difficult.

One of the biggest differences between the men concerns their approach to survival. Ben has adapted to the new world and treats their situation as something they must accept. Mickey, however, wants more than simply staying alive. He dreams of finding a safe place where he can settle down and perhaps reconnect with other survivors. His desire for a more stable existence repeatedly clashes with Ben's practical approach.

Their relationship becomes increasingly strained as they continue traveling together. Mickey feels trapped by their circumstances and frustrated by Ben's attitude, while Ben believes that remaining cautious is essential to staying alive. Despite their disagreements, the two men depend on each other because traveling alone would make survival even more difficult.

During their journey, the pair encounter a group of survivors communicating through radios. The possibility of finding other living people gives Mickey hope that a more organized community still exists. He becomes increasingly interested in making contact with them, believing that joining a group could offer companionship and a better chance of survival.

Ben is more suspicious of the situation. In a world where desperation can drive people to dangerous decisions, he understands that other survivors may represent just as much of a threat as the zombies. Nevertheless, the possibility of a safe haven begins to influence their decisions.

As they move closer to the people they have heard over the radio, the tension between Ben and Mickey grows. Their different expectations of the future become harder to reconcile, and the emotional burden of living in a world without familiar routines or reliable human relationships becomes increasingly apparent.

The film also explores the small moments that remain meaningful despite the apocalypse. Music, memories, jokes, and ordinary conversations provide brief escapes from the grim reality surrounding them. These moments reveal that the men are not merely fighting to avoid being killed; they are also struggling to preserve their identities and their sense of humanity.

Eventually, their search for safety leads them into a situation that tests their trust in each other and their ability to make decisions under pressure. The dangers of the zombie-infested world, combined with their personal disagreements, force them to confront the uncertainty of their future.

Rather than relying on constant action or large-scale battles, the film builds its tension through the relationship between its two central characters. Their journey demonstrates how the end of civilization can affect people in different ways: one may adapt to the practical demands of survival, while another continues searching for meaning, companionship, and hope.

The Battery presents a quiet and intimate portrait of life after a zombie apocalypse. At its heart, the film is not only about surviving the undead but also about loneliness, friendship, emotional resilience, and the human need for connection in a world where almost everything familiar has disappeared.

PLOT

Andy Brewster is a UCLA-graduate organic chemist and inventor. He wants to get his environmentally friendly cleaning product, ScieoClean, in a major retail store. However his sales pitches fall on deaf ears.

He visits his mother, Joyce Brewster, in New Jersey before leaving on a cross-country trip to Las Vegas, lying that a pitch to K-Mart went well so she will not worry.

While there, she reveals that he was named after Andrew Margolis, a boy she fell in love with in Florida, who she hoped would object to her marriage with Andy's father. However, he did not, making her feel she had never mattered to him. After a little research, he finds Andrew Margolis is alive, unmarried and living in San Francisco. He invites his unknowing mother on the trip, saying he wants to spend some time with her.

The road trip quickly becomes hard for Andy as his mother meddles in his life. After their car breaks down in Tennessee, Joyce calls Andy's ex-girlfriend Jessica, whom she insists he should get back together with, to pick them up. At a pregnant and married Jessica's house, she reveals that Andy proposed to her before college, and she turned him down, shocking Joyce.

Andy is glum afterward, and Joyce apologizes for calling Jessica, which he half-heartedly accepts. In Texas, he meets with Costco executive Ryan McFee. Joyce stays at the meeting, criticizing the product's labeling and name along with Ryan until Andy snaps at him. At a motel that night, a depressed Andy begins drinking, and Joyce attempts to make up with him. He gets angry, only to have her snap back and leave for a bar. Later, Andy attempts to retrieve Joyce and gets in a fight with a bar patron over her, receiving a black eye in the process.

At a steak restaurant the next day, the two exchange apologies, and Andy reveals that he is failing at selling ScieoClean. Joyce enters a steak-eating challenge and is noticed by cowboy-businessman Ben Graw, who gives her tips to help her finish the challenge.

Afterwards, Ben reveals he does business in New Jersey and asks her to dinner. Joyce, who has not been in a relationship since Andy's dad died years before, balks at the offer, so Ben merely leaves his number and asks her to call if she reconsiders.

Andy and Joyce begin to genuinely enjoy each other's company after, taking time to visit the Grand Canyon (which Joyce has always wanted to see) and having other adventures.

In Las Vegas, Joyce has such a good time that she suggests Andy leave her while he visits San Francisco, forcing him to reveal that he chose the city so she could meet Andrew Margolis. Joyce is very distraught, having believed Andy solely invited her to spend time with her.

Andy makes his pitch at the Home Shopping Network but finds that his science-based pitch bores the executives. Seeing Joyce, he takes her advice by talking about family safety, and drinking a large amount of it to prove his product will not harm children. The CEO shows genuine interest in selling ScieoClean on the Network. Jubilant, Andy and Joyce decide to visit Andrew Margolis's house.

When they arrive, they meet Andrew's son, Andrew Margolis Jr., whom Andy mistook for the father. He reveals that his father died five years ago. Seeing Joyce's grief, he invites them inside. She asks if Andrew's father ever mentioned her, but he says he never did as he only confided personal information to their mother, who is in Florida.

Andrew then introduces his sister, who is also named Joyce. Joyce is overjoyed, believing that you name your children after someone you cherished and want to remember. This makes her believe that she mattered to Andrew.

Afterwards, they part ways at the San Francisco Airport: Andy to make his next sales pitch and Joyce back to New Jersey, where she arranges a date with Ben Graw. The two leave content and much closer than they had been.

After Effect, 2012 - Students, Low on Cash?

πŸ’‰πŸ’‰πŸ’‰πŸ’‰It's a Wrap!πŸ’‰πŸ’‰πŸ’‰πŸ’‰
πŸ’‰πŸ’‰πŸ’‰πŸ’‰Calm down MonkeyπŸ’‰πŸ’‰πŸ’‰πŸ’‰

πŸŽ₯When college students sign up for what seems a simple paid research study, they soon realize their lives are in danger. Unfortunately they've unknowingly volunteered their bodies as human collateral in an ongoing U.S. Military experiment.πŸŽ₯

A group of 8 students participated in an experiment of a medication in a laboratory. A building full of rooms without exit. They were observed with hidden cameras.

They were all there for the money, but we'll intentioned.

So, when the chemical started the effect in their bodies, one of them called Amanda had hair loss and the nails started to break, she became violent and almost killed her boyfriend Carter.

Their eyes had alterations of the color, became Lila and they became to be aggressive and started to kill each other. When the Police discovered they invaded the local but was too late, only two were alive, they killed the last one that was attacking them.

So, who will gonna pay for their lives? One eye for one eye, right? πŸ˜‰ God is always on time.

In the real life, only one survived apparently. I could find only one profile on Instagram, Jeremy Kahn. In the IMDB has only five pictures (Mattew, Keisha, Kristina, Zak and Jeremy). Seems that the aggressors/criminals, succeeded to scape.

They ad at the University. πŸ˜‰ So, with the number it's possible to know the location.

Lacie Donavan (Tuckie White) and Killian Morgan (Mattew Lucki)

Keisha Jackson (KaMillion)

Ty (Zack Hawkins)

Jake (Jake Hames)

Riley (Kristina Cole Geddes)

Amanda (Lily Hex) and Carter (Jeremy Kahn)

One Solomon question to you.
"Do you think your life is worth more then theirs?"

Till next time. ☀️☀️☀️
